The $8.00 per Hour Mindset

I was talking with a friend of mine who is a supervisor at her job.  She began to describe to me one of the situations she is dealing with.  One of her subordinates felt as though she deserved to make more than what she was currently making – $8.00/hour.  So since she wasn’t making the money she wanted to she decided that because they were paying her $8.00/hour then she’ll give them $8.00/hour worth of work.

So the question is – how does slowing down your production time and output levels change the circumstances that surround you?

Plain and simple.  It doesn’t.  In fact taking having an attitude like that can end up getting you fired at times.  In order to get a raise at work, your boss needs to see you differently.  In order for your boss to see you differently, you need to see yourself differently.

People will always view you the way you view yourself.  If you want a raise at work some times what it takes is viewing (and working) like you already have the raise.  If your boss is paying you $10/hour, work like you are making $12.00/hour.  Your boss needs to see you working at the $12.00/hour level before he gives you $12.00/hour.

Albert Einstein said that to do something over and over again and expect different results is insanity.  If you want something different than you have to be willing to do something different.  Take a moment and think about it.  What can you do differently that has the potential to bring in different results?

Changing the way you think will have an effect on the way you see yourself thus how others see you.  Are you ready to do that?
