Faith: the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. This is a definition found in Hebrews 11 used many times to describe what faith is. Read it here.
Faith is the belief in something you can’t see. Some people call this belief in the impossible. But all things are possible to them that believe. So in essence faith can be called something that turns the impossible possible.
My pastor is always asking, “What are you believing God for? What do you have faith for?” Because if we aren’t believing for something, then nothing is what we get. But if we put our faith into action, if we call those things to be not as though they are then we have started to put our faith into action.
For example, if I am believing God for more money. Then what I am going to do is tithe more and give more. Why would I do that? Because the bible says as you sow you shall reap. It says give and it will be give to you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over shall men give unto your bosom.
So if you are looking for a financial breakthrough then you need to put your faith into action by giving. Because faith is demonstrated belief. And without faith it is impossible to please God.
Faith is really a measure of your revelation of who Jesus is. If you are only believing for your rent to be paid and that’s it, then you just limited your God. Why can’t you have a house that’s paid for? Why can’t you have a car that’s paid for? Everywhere throughout the bible you see God’s people blessed. Since God is no respecter of persons then He will bless you just as much as He blessed them. But in order to receive the abundance, your faith needs to be at that level.
