I was listening to an old recording of a sales seminar made back in the 30’s or 40’s. It’s called the strangest secret. It’s main idea is that we are what we think. Now this saying has passed many circles and has been said in many different ways. The bible says, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.” A Cesar of Rome said it like this, “The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.”
You and I are the products of not only our choices but our ideas and thoughts. If you never think that you will be great, then you never will. If you never think that you have the ability to achieve greatness, then it will never happen. So what we need to do to change the direction we are headed is to change the way we think.
Let me put it like this. When you are taking a picture you have a foreground, middle-ground, and background; and you can only focus on one part at a time. But to change your focus all it takes is a twist of the lens. It goes the same for us, all we need to do to focus on something different is adjust our perception, our lens.
So let’s, you and I, make a decision right now. That the next thought we think about ourselves is a positive one. That we can make a difference. That we possess greatness inside of us. This isn’t some “make you feel good” lesson. This is telling yourself the truth. You need to think differently to do something differently. You need to change the way you think. So what better time to do it than now.
I am smart. There is a reason I am here. I have greatness on the inside of me. My life has meaning. I am loved. I am special. There is something unique inside of me that no one else has.
Write me, I am interested in learning what’s special about you. I want to know about what you are going to change about the way you think. You can comment us here or e-mail us at info@rebuildingfamiliesfoundation.org or check out our website at www.rebuildingfamiliesfoundation.org.
Hi,
I have read the four blogs currently on the website and it was extremely encouraging. I see it as a type of ‘Daily Word’ that can be compiled and sold! Not everyone may have access to a computer, especially the not-so-fotunate, so a hardcopy form of this could be considered. This is great stuff! God bless the writer and the organisation. I am actually thinking of…no, I will be printing these to share with my Sunday School class. People all over need this, not only the youth, because more and more, you see adults being frustrated and discouraged, depressed… Special thanks to Denise for sharing this website. I shall be making my site visits more frequently.
