There is a change coming to our cities. That which was then will not be now. We can change things. We will change things. But to do it we need your help.
Did you know in 2006- 67 percent of children ages 0–17 lived with two married parents, down from 77 percent. Nearly one quarter (23 percent) of children lived with only their mothers, 5 percent lived with only their fathers, and 5 percent lived with neither of their parents. The proportion of all children living with a single father increased from 2 percent to 5 percent.
These statistics above are from the U.S. Censeus Bureau. These statistics are showing an increase in instability in our homes. Children that are growing up without both parents. Single mothers are working twice as hard affording no time to instill values into their growing children. Less fathers are sticking around to help discipline their children and share responsibility.
With thigns like this going on, who is left to teach our children? Who is left to raise our children? Society? Television? Government? Schools?
We need to be a voice into these children’s lives. We need to let the children know that there is a reason for them being here. God has a plan for their lives. God cares for them. And then we need to take it a step further and show them. How? By doing it exactly the way Jesus said. By clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, helping the poor.
What we think that’s going on in third world countries is happening right here in our neighborhoods.
