The Significant You: Defining Significance

A lot of us have grown up watching television, the actors and actresses, seeing famous people, having a desire to be like that.  Why are we like that?  Its because we have a desire to be significant.  We each have this desire (whether we want to admit it or not) to have significance in our lives and communities.

What is significance?  As defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, significance is the quality of being important.

As Americans we do this thing were we have to have the biggest and the best.  We need to have the biggest t.v. or the fastest car or the longest boat.  This is a search of importance.  It’s a search to be known as that person who is on top.  You know I’ve studying psychology and human interaction for years and if there is one conclusion that I can make it’s that we all have the same desires.  We just act out our longing in different ways.

But do you know that inside of you there is a measure of significance already built-in?  What if I told you that each of us, me and you, have a gift inside of us waiting to be used?  And its that gift inside of us that makes us not only special but significant.  Signifcance doesn’t come from being on television, radio, or anything else like that.  Significance starts from inside of you.  It starts with a conscience choice. 

You have a gift and it’s different from my gift.  You have a role in life and it’s different from my role in life.  Are you ready to find out your significance in life?  Are you ready to find out the reason why you were created?  Because this is part of what Rebuilding Families Foundation is about.  We are here to help you.
